Nmc Texture Pack Fallout New Vegas

Fallout New Vegas Texture pack by NeilMcNMC: re-textures roads, trees, landscape, vehicles buildings and interiors with high-resolution photographic based equivalent textures. Global texture replacer. Does not retexture the DLC. Merge either Data or Textures with the folder in your game data location. Usually (c:) Program Files or Program Files (x86) / Steam or Bethesda Softworks / Fallout New Vegas / Data. If you're adding the NMC texture pack for New Vegas, the steps will only differ a little. Large package still has 5 files. Medium package has 3 files.

Mods to Avoid

Utilities to Avoid:

New Vegas Stutter Remover: Irreparably broken by Windows 10 due to relying on undefined behavior. Will cause crashes every ~15 minutes. Every single feature from NVSR has been replaced in a modern manner by the combination of New Vegas Tick Fix, New Vegas Heap Replacer, and lStewieAl's Tweaks. These mods also have many great feaures that NVSR never had, like the high FPS physics fix. There is no reason to use NVSR, even on Windows 7.

ENBoost: New Vegas Tick Fix has much better memory management than ENBoost, and will increase performance/decrease stuttering more. ENBoost also needs a lot of system-specific configuration to work properly and can degrade performance without proper tweaking. ENB in general for New Vegas has been more or less abandoned by its author in favor of Skyrim.

Zan AutoPurge Crash Protector/PCB Hotkey: The script command used by these mods is a leftover command from development that forefully clears buffered cells from memory, which can lead to unforeseen consequences. Essentially the same function is performed safely by the .INI tweaks in the guide.

Save Cleaner: Works by going through your save file and deleting every REFR file, which will most likely break your save.

Performance of the Gods (or pretty much all mods with 'Performance' in the title): Performance gain is usually placebo, disabling small clutter items with less than five polygons won't do anything. Also potentially dangerous if they mark the records as Deleted rather than Initially Disabled, as the game can crash if a script tries to reference a deleted object.

Bug Fixes to Avoid:

Mission Mojave: Heavily outdated compared to Yukichigai Unofficial Patch, will break more than it fixes and cause crashing.

Visual Mods to Avoid:

ENB: As mentioned earlier with ENBoost, ENBs were never fully developed for New Vegas and have been abandoned by the author. They have a ton of bugs and performance issues, such as broken Anti-aliasing and objects becoming transparent. They also use a lot of vision-obscuring effects like depth of field, lens flares, bloom, and chromatic aberration to obscure the broken Anti-aliasing, which makes hem very hard to play with. I recommend using a ReShade preset instead, such as Vanilla Plus ReShade Preset.

New Vegas Reloaded: Incredibly buggy and almost impossible to play with (flickering shadows, transparency issues, broken water LOD, performance loss). As with ENB, I recommend using Vanilla Plus ReShade Preset instead.

4k texture mods/texture mods with 2k normal maps: The game's engine is unable to handle textures that big without massive performance loss/stuttering and/or crashing. You also most likely won't notice that big of a visual difference compared to 2k textures with 1k normals, unless you play in 1440p/4k resolution (and if you do, the performance loss will be even greater) or look very carefully at an object up close. This includes the large version of NMCs Texture Pack and Ojo Bueno. If you want to use either of those mods, use either the low or medium versions of NMCs Texture Pack (I recommend low) and Poco Bueno.

Charge's HD Texture Pack/other AI-upscaled texture packs: AI-upscaled textures usually result in a massive performance decrease for a very minor visual increase. Charge's in particular upscales files it shouldn't such as normal maps and glow maps, and has textures with major artifacting.

Borderlands Inspired Numeric Damage: Causes save bloat due to not destructing its strings. Also can be very performance intensive due to constantly-running scripts and has a bug that can cause NPCs to teleport directly to you upon entering an interior. I recommend Samurai Floating Damage instead.

Fallout Character Overhaul: Multiple broken file paths which cause missing mesh triangles and pink textures. The installer auto-selects patches for mods you don't have installed and installs the Glowing Ghouls file which causes massive performance drops and save bloat. It doesn't cover every NPC in the game (plus NPCs from the DLCs or mods), so any uncovered NPCs look very out of place. It requires the bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles INI setting to be enabled, which causes performance loss due to generating NPC face textures on the fly in-game. It also overwrites many YUP fixes for NPCs, though these can be patched using FNVEdit. I recommend New Vegas Redesigned 2 Revised instead (already in the guide).

Handheld Pip-Boys, such as the 2500: All hand-held Pip-Boys share the same common visual bugs that occur if you enter/exit your Pip-Boy too fast. The methods these mods use to hide the Pip-Boy in third person are also quite janky, as they were made before NVSE extensions like JIP LN. I recommend either the 2500a or 2000 Mk VI, or checking out Universal Pip-Boy Customization instead.

Electro City: Has broken LOD that can cause crashing. Also includes unnecessary bloat and leftover features from a planned quest. I recommend A Little More Lamplight instead (already in the guide).

Unnecessary Physics: Causes save bloat since the game has to save the position of every indivdual part of every object you move.

Vault 22 Flora Overhaul: Disables objects with the Has Tree LOD flag, which can cause crashing. Also has tons of unnecessary bloat such as new weapons, enemies, poison effects, skill books, and more. I recommend Vault 22 Flora Overhaul Remastered instead.

New Vegas Landscape Overhaul (including the Remastered version): Has deleted navmeshes and deleted objects with the Has Tree LOD flag, which can cause crashing. I recommend Enhanced Landscape instead.

Project Reality: Very poor scripting, will cause massive performance issues and save bloat. If you want a different weather mod than Altitude, I recommend Nevada Skies instead.

Gameplay Mods to Avoid:

Project Nevada: Outdated, inefficient, bloated, and broken. Most features have modern alternatives (see the list below). Has almost 20 scripts that run every single frame, causes save bloat due to continuous quest stages being triggered, and some features either don't work or break the game (chargeable weapons, lethal headshots, and the stealth/AI changes).

    Replacing Project Nevada:

Although it may seem counterproductive to install a bunch of small mods to replace one big mod, these alternatives are all more efficient and performance friendly. They are 100% safe to use, and actually work, unlike Project Nevada:.

    Core Module:

    • Dynamic Crosshair, Bullet Time, Sprint, and more: Just Assorted Mods
    • Grenade Hotkey: Quick Grenade Hotkey and Quick Grenade Hotkey Tweaks
    • Variable Zoom and Slower Backpedaling: lStewieAl's Tweaks (enable bAdjustableScopeZoom and bMovementPenalties in the INI)
    • Immersive Health Visuals: Custom Health and AP Visuals
    • Enhanced Vision: Enhanced Vision
    • Explosive Entry: Simple Explosive Entry
    • Immersive Primary Needs: Immersive Primary Needs
    • Inventory Sorter: Universal Item Sorter

    Cyberware Module:

    • Complete re-creation - Cyberware 2281

    Rebalance Module:

    • Better character progression/combat: JSawyer Ultimate Edition (enable bSurvivalModeDamage in the INI)
    • Item rarity changes: Unfound Loot
    • Lethal headshots: JIP LN NVSE (enable bLocalizedDTDR in the INI)
    • Alternate repairing system: Alternative Repairing
    • Miscellaneous gameplay changes: lStewieAl's Tweaks (enable bMovementPenalties, bNoKarmaMessages, and bRemoveSneakLabel in the INI)

    Equipment Module:

    • Fallout 3 Weapons: Fallout 3 Weapons Restoration
    • Classic Fallout Weapons: WebbProductions2020's Mods (though these directly edit weapon records, so they require conflict resoluton in FNVEdit)

FOOK, New Vegas Enhanced Content, and Mission Mojave Ultimate Edition: Massive compilation mods like these eventually get outdated and break other mods like Yukichigai Unofficial Patch. For example, NVEC includes the old version of the Burning Campfires that causes save bloat, an old version of EVE that is even more performance-intensive than the current one, outdated bug fixes that break Yukichigai Unofficial Patch, and much more).

Unlimited Companions (or any other companion-related mods): Unlimited Companions re-compiles every script in the game and will break many mods. If you want unlimited companions, or other companion-related features like equipment managing, infinite ammo, combat-ready companions, and much more, use JIP Companions Command and Control. Before installing any mods that edit companion behavior, you should check if JIP CCC already does it.

Populated Casinos: Poorly made mod with many dirty edits/ITMs/UDRs. The engine also can't handle that many NPCs in the same area without performance loss. I recommend Casino Crowds instead.

Freeside/Strip Open: Suffers from the same engine limitations as Populated Casinos. Freeside Open has many dirty edits, and both Freeside and Strip open have deleted navmeshes.

Increased Wasteland Spawns: Causes save bloat due to using the PlaceAtMe function. I recommend Mojave Wildlife (I recommend the Vanilla No Chanced Spawns Version version, though any version will work) and The Living Desert (already in the guide) instead.

True Wasteland Economy: Incredibly script-heavy, will cause save bloat and deteriorate performance over time. I recommend Economy Overhaul instead (already in the guide).

DUST: Poorly made mod with almost 1000 errors in FNVEdit. Has a combination of deleted records, leftover null references, missing records, and more.

Sinitar's Gameplay Overhaul (or anything made by Sinitar): Sinitar knows nothing about modding, as shown by his guide that includes most of the mods on this list. SGO is full of bugs, broken features, awful balance, and Sinitar's trademark typos. Avoid anything he makes at all costs. If you have a few hours and want more information about Sinitar's lies, scamming, and lack of modding knowledge, check out thistwenty-eight page essay that goes into excruciating detail about it.

Any AI mods: AI mods generally just edit gamesettings, which can both break set scences (such as the vault in Dead Money and saving the Goodsprings settler in the tutorial mission) and make combat more frustrating than realistic. Enemies can somtimes detect you the second you enter an interior, so they will all rush you at the entrance.

Any mods that edit timescale: Vanilla AI packages and scripts are based on the vanilla timescale, and can break and/or run when they aren't supposed to if the timescale is changed.

Content Mods to Avoid:

Weapon Mods Expanded/Extended: Overwrites Weapon Mesh Improvement Mod's mesh fixes and requires conflict resoluton with any mods that edit weapon records. Also very unbalanced in my opinion, since many of the mods are either silencers or damage increases.

More Perks: Made in 2010 without the use of any script extenders, so many of the perks are broken or have poor implementation. I recommend PerkPackPlus instead.

CAGE - Continue After Games Ending: Broken, use Functional Post Game Ending instead.

NV Interiors Project: Causes save bloat due to the large amount of havok-enabled items that all have their individual positions stored on the save when you enter an interior. Use NV Interiors Remastered instead.

Classic Fallout Weapons: Countless broken meshes and leveled lists, will cause crashes. If you want weapons from the classic Fallout games, use WebbProductions2020's Mods (though these directly edit weapon records, so they require conflict resoluton in FNVEdit).

Honest Hearts Reborn: Re-compiles every script in the game, so if you want to use it you must clean it in FNVEdit first. It will still have many bugs after cleaning though.

TitanFallout

Do you know what’s an awesome game? Titanfall. Do you know what’s cool? Titans. So why not add a little Titanfall to your Fallout New Vegas? This mod lets you summon Titans that will drop from the sky. You can pilot them and wreak havoc on your enemies. It even allows you different ways to get your Titan. When the game loads with this mod installed, you are given three options. You can be given the Titan right away (if you are at a max level already or just want it asap), you can get it at level 30 (default setting) or you can go retrieve the Titan yourself at a marked location. Once your Titan is summoned, you can immediately start using it and destroying any enemies around you. Don’t worry if your Titan breaks, you can always get another after a production period (35 minutes). It’s a ton of fun, trust me.

IMPACT

Fallout New Vegas is an excellent RPG, but it’s somewhat lacking as a shooter. Primarily, it lacks substantial hit effects when you shoot an enemy. This mod seeks to alleviate that problem and make the gunplay more satisfying and visceral. IMPACT is a mod that completely makes your guns feel more dangerous and powerful with completely new visual effects and details. So what does it do? Bullet holes are more substantial and reflect the caliber of the bullet, hitting objects will cause a spark of particle effects, and more. Overhauled custom particle effects that affect most surfaces in the game, including wood, metal, stone/concrete. Fallout New Vegas can feel like a pea-shooter game at times, but not anymore. IMPACT is a nice mod if you’re to make the guns more impactful and more powerful.

Weapons of the New Millennia

Weapons of the New Millenia is a quite self-explanatory mod. This mod provides a large number of new guns to the world of Fallout New Vegas. These include an AK-47, a Colt M1911, an M4A1, and many more. You can even choose how you obtain these guns, whether that be from a cheat sheet or a level list where you must defeat enemies to get your hands on them or simply purchase them.

Along with the guns, it even adds a quest line type of element to your game. So not only can you get these new weapons, but you can test them out in their own special questline. This mod was developed with an emphasis on compatibility and modding capabilities, so the community can continue to expand on this work. This mod has had a lot of work put into it, and it would be a shame if you didn’t give this one a try, it is truly unique!

Five Nights at Vault 5

Inspired by the Five Nights at Freddy’s horror games, this mod drops you in a vault with no equipment and no weapons and sets murderous robots on you. You have nothing but your wits to survive the hunt. The arena will also periodically fill with deadly gas.

This mod is fully equipped with a new voice pack specifically designed for this mod. Like your typical Five Nights at Freddy’s game, it requires you to play that hide and seek style game to close doors on the impending doom. The one main way this mod differs from Five Nights at Freddy’s is that it requires the player to move from room to room to evade enemies and continue forward rather than stay in a single room. Overall, this mod provides hours of unique gameplay that is vastly different from a normal Fallout New Vegas gameplay, but it certainly is fun and unique.

New Vegas Bounties

What is the desert without a little bounty hunting? The series of quests that allow you to take on the role of a bounty hunter. Take contracts, seek out your targets, and take them out without mercy. You will have all different types of enemies as targets, including rangers, fiends, raiders, smugglers, cannibals, and pistoleros. All of these enemies will be a challenge, as they are all set in the same difficulty as regular bosses are, and they become harder and tougher as you progress through the storyline. Featuring over 436 lines of new dialogue, you can truly immerse yourself in brand new experience in Fallout New Vegas with this mod.

Note: that these mods require this mod to work.

MTUI

Fallout New Vegas is a game that was clearly designed for consoles. The text is too big and seems to be designed for players who are sitting across the room from their TVs. It doesn’t make the best use of the real estate of a monitor and isn’t as optimized for PC as it could be. This UI overhaul fixes that, by doing many essential adjustments that PC players need, including smaller font sizes, larger item selection areas, improved conversation menus, etc. These menus and adjustments are made with the desktop player in mind, built for PC screen resolutions. However, if you do not like this mod, do not worry. You can always uninstall the mod and restore the original textures if that is your preference.

Populated Casinos

The casinos in Fallout New Vegas are uncharacteristically dead. The game builds New Vegas up into some kind of paradise full of life and energy, but when you get there the casinos are empty and devoid of life. Pretty disappointing. This mod fixes that problem and brings life back to the casinos. It makes the heart of the Mojave wasteland actually feel like a bustling center.

You will find a lot of NPCs, a lot of them look the same, but in the grand scheme of things the goal is to liven up the casinos, and that is what this mod accomplishes. This mod can be very performance intensive. Since it is spawning in a lot of NPCs, it tends to use a lot of resources. If you have a decent PC, that should not be an issue, and this mod will simply just make your game better.

Roleplayer’s Alternative Start

If you’ve played Fallout New Vegas a few times, the opening can get pretty samey. Sit on Doc Mitchell’s couch and answer the same old questions, go out to Goodsprings and do the same old stuff. It can get old after a couple of times. The Alternative Start mod gives you the chance to get a fresh start in the Mojave desert, placing you in a randomized location and setting you free into the world.

This mod will make Fallout New Vegas into a much better role-playing game.

Other features include: fixing starting quests, over 95 starting locations across the world, faction specific starting points and everything is fully randomized. There are also different forms of history for you, and all these factors will affect what kind of weapons, gear, and skills you may have. What this means for the player is, that no matter what, every game you start will have a different gear and item set, meaning a fresh new experience every time.

Project Mojave

Project Mojave is a massive overhaul fallout new vegas weapon mod split into multiple parts so that you don’t have to incorporate them all if you don’t want to. The core of the mod focuses on tweaking and improving the shooter elements of the game, adding bullet time, a grenade hotkey, variable zooms for scopes, and more.

Another part of the mod lets you surgically upgrade your character, adding improvements to speed, durability, strength, vision, and more. The third module adds a number of rebalancing changes that aim to make the combat more frantic and the survival more challenging, whilst a fourth module adds new weapons and gear, including stuff brought in from other popular modders.

Oxide ENB

Oxide ENB is a collection of mods that aim to overhaul the visual design of New Vegas’ world. Instead of the drab and colorless browns and greys, this mod brings the wasteland to life with a vibrant and varied color scheme. It also includes it’s own weather mods and other things so you don’t need to mix and match them.

Monster Mod

There are a variety of vicious and nasty creatures in the Mojave wasteland out for your head, but if you play the game long enough you’ll probably get bored fighting the same old monsters. This mod has a number of new monsters for you to fight in the wasteland, some of which are more challenging than anything you’ll find in the original game.

Coloured Map and Icons

The Pipboy is your most reliable tool, and you’ll certainly be using it a lot in the adventures. So why not make it a bit more appealing to look at? This mod adds colored icons, lets you change the resolution of the Pipboy, add custom icons, and more.

Improved Throwing

Throwing weapons in New Vegas are undeniably pretty lame. Weak, awkward, underwhelming and just not very viable. This mod improves throwing weapons by letting you pick them up after throwing them, craft spears and knives to throw, turn your weapons into projectiles, and even throw random debris at your enemies if you get desperate enough.

Download Improved Throwing.

Project Nevada

Project Nevada is a mod that seeks to make your Fallout New Vegas experience more interesting and unique, as well as more difficult and challenging – all while remaining fun and interactive. This is a very large project that has a lot of different features including Dynamic crosshair, bullet time, sprint, grenade hotkey, slower backpedaling, immersive health visuals, immersive primary needs, explosive entry, control panel, inventory sorter, chargeable weapons and more.

Being one of the largest and most detailed projects for Fallout New Vegas, it completely changes the game and makes it a lot better than before. It may take some time to try out all the new features, but I assure you it is worth it. Try it out today!

Fallout new vegas nmc texture pack comparison
